FAQ

Q. When is the studio "open"?
A.
Most students have found coming in a few minutes before their first class is the best time to come in. We are generally available 5 to 10 minutes before each class time starts. At that time our teachers can sell you your punch pass, answer your questions about the class or help you get comfortable with the studio. During class times we are teaching so this is not a good time to come in. If you would like to meet someone at the studio during the day, please call 759-4543 and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.

Q. What is yoga?
A.
Yoga is a 5000 year old health care system. It is a series of poses (asana's) that shapes the body, increases flexibility, relieves stress and brings the body into harmony. It deactivates the fight or flight system of the adrenal glands and allows the body to experience an inner contentment.

Q. What if I'm not flexible?
A.
Many of us are not flexible to begin with so we understand. Just start where you are and do what you can. Don't worry about what you can't do. We show many modifications to the poses so you can find what's right for your body. We won't be trying to wrap our leg over our head and make pretzels out of ourselves here. Sooner than you think, you'll have a fuller range of motion and move your body more easily. That's what it's about.

Q. How often should I do yoga?
A.
This is a tricky question. The short answer is 1 to 6 times per week. The long answer is once a week will help you become a tolerable person, 2 to 3 times per week will help you move more easily during the week. The jewel of yoga is when you can come 4 to 6 times per week. Doing yoga this often brings clarity and perspective within the mind and body, strengthens your practice and purifies your body. This is when you really see the results.

Q. What do I wear to yoga and Pilates?
A.
Clothing that has lots of movement in the knees and tops that stay in place when you bend over work best. Fitness tops, snug tees and tank tops tend to be the best choices.

Q. What is Pilates?
A.
Pilates is an exercise developed by Joseph Pilates that will improve your strength, flexibility and alignment especially in the spine and shoulder area. Focusing on the "core" of the body (lower back and abdominal region), Pilates coordinates the breath with movement to develop a long and lean look.

Q. What is Pilates reformer training?
A.
It is the series of Pilates exercises performed on a table that adds resistance to the moves. With this machine, you can learn self-awareness and strengthen muscles in a non-impact and balanced way of conditioning. Joseph Pilates said in 10 sessions you will feel the difference in your body, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference and in 30 sessions everyone will see the difference.

Q. Can I do Pilates?
A.
With all of the attention on how the celebrities use Pilates to stay in shape has come the misconception that Pilates is too difficult for the average person to do. This is not true! It usually is a better choice for beginners than something like running or step aerobics.

Q. My pass has expired, do you extend them?
A.
Unless you have a note from a physician stating you are unable to perform physical activity, passes do expire on the date stamped on the card.

Q. Can my friend/family member use my pass?
A.
Passes are for individuals, not groups. We offer an amazing price for our classes. In order to offer this price it must be for individual use only. There are no exceptions on this. We do offer trial classes for new members so they can test it out for themselves. After that we do expect them to purchase their own pass.

Q. I'm not using my pass. Can my friend use the rest of the punches?
A.
Please see above on card sharing.
